A Guided Introduction to Barbershop Singing
New! 26 Weeks of Harmony
Our 26 Weeks of Harmony program helps new singers build confidence one step at a time.
Over six months you'll:
- Learn the fundamentals of singing in four-part harmony
- Improve vocal production and breath support
- Develop ear training and part independence
- Learn barbershop tags and quartet skills
- Perform with the chorus at community events
- Build friendships with fellow singers
No previous barbershop experience required.
Everyone Is Welcome
The Stockton Portsmen are an award-winning mixed a cappella chorus welcoming singers throughout California's Central Valley. We believe great harmony happens when people from different backgrounds come together to share their love of music. No auditions are required to visit a rehearsal. Come sing with us and experience the thrill of ringing barbershop harmony.
What to Expect
6:00 PM - Chorus Rehearsal
- Vocal warmups
- Learning songs

7:30 PM - Very Large Quartet (VLQ) Time
- Informal quartet singing
- Tags and barbershop fun
- Meet other members
- Learn harmony in a relaxed setting
Your First Night
When you visit:
- We'll greet you and introduce you to members
- You'll be seated with singers who can help you
- Music and learning materials will be provided
- You can participate as much or as little as you'd like
- No pressure to join
