Stockton Portsmen - Youth In Harmony Information
This site is sponsored by the Stockton chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Its purpose is to introduce young men in the Stockton area to the Barbershop style of A Cappella singing as a means of attracting more of them to vocal music in schools.
Barbershop is a fantastic sound, especially when YOU are singing it. We have a million ways for you to pick up this hobby with three or more of your friends. We will come to your school and give a demonstration, then arrange for getting music for you, and we will provide coaching during or after school. In addition, there are special events all year.
High School Quartet Contest
Every year the Far Western District of the Barbershop Harmony Society conducts a High School Quartet Contest at its Spring Convention. Check out the
FWD's Young Men In Harmony page. Contact the Stockton Portsmen YIH Coordinator if interested in any of these activities.
Get a quartet together at your school. Compete in the annual High School Quartet Contest in March.
Young Men's Chorus!
Be a part of the start of something awesome: A chorus of top young male singers in Central California.
Aa Young Men's Chorus, provides an opportunity for young men ages 15-30 to sing with other talented young men in a superior a cappella chorus and perform at various events in central California. This chorus is sponsored by the Youth In Harmony (YIH) program, as part of the larger YIH Program of the Barbershop Harmony Society. There are no fees for joining and expenses will be covered by the YIH program, donations and fundraisers.
Details will be coming on the next rehearsal and about a trip to New Orleans, LA, in January 2015.
